Teaching Informatics in Saudi Arabian Public Schools: Current National Status, International Prospective, and Future Plan / Ibrahim A. Al-Mohaissin
The study aimed at investigating the level of knowledge and skills of Kuwaiti science teachers regarding their usage of computers in science teaching_ The sample consisted of 145 Kuwaiti sc pence teachers from all over the State of Kuwait The study x%as administered during the 1999/2000 academic year, and the statistical procedures used in this Study were frequencies, percentiles, analysis of variance, and correlation. The tools in this study were questionnaires concerning science teachers usage of computers in teaching, The results of the study were as follows: 1 - The software Kuwaiti science teachers use the most in their teaching, are: graphical software and word processors. And the least used software in science lessons are electronic encyclopedias and simulations. 2 - There were no significant statistical differences between the sexes of Kuwaiti science teachers regarding the following: a, their usage of computers in daily lives, b, the computer courses they studied. and c, the usage of computers by their student in science lessons. 3 - There were no significant statistical differences among Kuwaiti science teachers in the three class levels , elementary, intermediate, secondary, regarding the following: a, Their usage of computers in daily lives, h, their usage of computers in science lessons, and c, the usage of computers by their student in science lessons. A number of suggestions and recommendations in the light of the results of the study were offered_ Among them is that science teachers should study at least two computers courses during their previoun education.
