It has been taken for granted that school is an important means of achieving social equality, And providing equal justice for all. In this study we will argue that this view of the school is misleading and problematic. Schooling in capitalist society does not ameliorate social inequities. The educational system is no more just or equal than the economy and society itself. The intent of this study will be to further this argument. and to explore the hidden function of education in capitalist society. To this end we will discuss two theories: the functional theory. and the conflict theory. which represent two different views regarding the function of education in capitalist society
