Thinking Styles of Freshman and Senior Students at Taibah University   / Hasen R. AI-Shehri

This study aimed at determining the favorite thinking styles of Taibah University students , males & females, . The study was carried out on a sample of students from Taibah University. Subjects were 1296 from Faculties of Science , 442,  males and , 257,  females;; Education , 335,  males and , 156,  females; and Al-Daawah , 106,  males; during the second semester in 1424H. The researcher used the Thinking Styles Inventory , Short Version,  prepared by Sternberg and translated into Arabic by Al-Darderee and Al-Taib for measuring the thirteen thinking styles, Factor analysis, coefficients of correlation and analysis of variance were used- Results were: 1. Taibah University female students significantly ,  at level 0.05,  outperformed male students in regard to these thinking styles: legislative, executive, hierarchical, monarchic, oligarchic, internal, and external, 2. The Faculty of Science students significantly , at level 0.05,  outperformed the Faculty of Education students , males & females,  in regard to these thinking styles: legislative, executive, judicial, local, liberal, conservative, hierarchical, monarchic, oligarchic, anarchic, and external. 3. Students from the Faculty of Al-daawah significantly outperformed students of the Faculty of Education in regard to the judicial style of thinking. 4. The freshman students , males & females,  significantly outperformed the senior students in regard to these thinking styles: legislative, local, monarchic, conservative, oligarchic, and anarchic.
