Problems of Beginning Teachers as Perceived by Neophyte Teachers in the Public Schools of Qatar / Aref Atari
The main objective of this study was to shed some light on the problems encountered by novice teachers in the public schools of Qatar and to determine the statistical significance of independent variables (sex, major. and teaching cycle). A questionnaire consisting of 40 items/problems was employed. Problem statements were combined into a number of indexes. A sample made up of 95 neophytes representing 31.7% of the statistical population were requested to rate each item/problem on a five response likert-like-continuum. SPSS-X was used for statistical treatment. The results suggested that all the problems were encountered by the subjects with different levels of significance. Fifteen were considered as acute. The independent variables brought about statistically significant responses in a few items only. The study ended with conclusions and recommendations.
