The Role and Responsibility of the Student Teacher in Student Teaching / Rashed H. Al-Katheery

Student teaching is viewed by many educators as one of the most dynamic, beneficial and important phases in any teacher education program. The student teacher plays an important role in this program. This study tried to develop a list of 68 items. Each item represents a role and responsibility of the student teacher. After developing this list, the researcher tried to classify these items according to their importance. The results of this study showed that there are 30 items which were classified as very important items considered to be the major roles of the student teachers while the other 25 items were considered to be important. The rest of the list - 13 items - was seen to be of less importance to the student teacher by the student teachers themselves and their college supervisors.
