A Comparative Study of the Effects of Teaching Using Transparencies as Opposed to a Straightforward Lecture Method / Abdul Aziz M. Al-Ageeli
This research paper is an attempt to investigate the differences between teaching through two different methods; one through regular lectures and the other through the use of transparencies. This research tries to measure and highlight the significant differences between these two methods of leaching. The study participants were two groups of students from the College of Education. While one group was taught by means of a lecture with no audiovisual aids, the second was taught by using overhead projector transparencies. In order to avoid any discrepancies the two groups were taught by the researcher using the two above methods. The general findings are as follows;
1. There are significant differences between the two groups. The results indicate that the group who were taught by using the transparencies achieved a better score in the middle semester assessment than the second group.
2. No significant differences were observed between the two groups at the end of the semester assessment.
3. No significant differences in the examination score were evident between the two groups at the final examination which consisted of the combination of the results of the middle and the final assessments.
