Variables were: structured educational experience; demagraphic variables of educational level, place of residence. age , and number of children. Significant differences (p=0.05) were noted with patientsgiven educational experience and those with some previous formal education having more favorable compliance. Recommendations are: include health awareness in ABE curriculum. use health as a motivationtoward literacy, assess patients’ educational ability to comply with treatment, and assess patients’ inclination to participate in structured educational experience when planning treatment of chronic illness.
