The Effectiveness of a Suggested Model for Teaching Thinking in the Development of Organizing Information Skills among Female Students Enrolled at the College of Education, King Saud University / Latifa Al- Semairi
The study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of a suggested model for teaching thinking in the development of organizing information skills among female students enrolled at the College of Education, King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. To achieve the study objectives a quasi-experimental methodology was applied in which a sample of , 74, female students were assigned to an experimental group and a control group. An organizing information test was designed and administered twice to the two groups. A t-test was used to measure differences between students performance in the two groups as well as differences between pre-post scores within the experimental group. Results showed a significant difference between the two groups in favor of the experimental group at three levels of thinking: advance organization skills, comparison and skills classification_ When comparing the pre-post scores within the experimental group, the results showed a sigificant difference in favor of the students post performance. In view of these results, the researcher recommended the following : applying the suggested model for teaching thinking in theoretical courses offered at the College of Education; the design of a training educational program for faculty on the application of the suggested model; and the develoment of other models for teaching thinking in the development of higher thinking skills.
