Riyadh Middle School Art Teachers' Knowledge of Behavioral Objectives  / Mohammad M. A. Aldosari

The goal of this study was to identify the level of Riyadh art teachers' knowledge level of behavioral objectives in terms of their concept and importance, writing , domains, and the domains' levels. The descriptive analysis research methods was used in the study, since it fits the study's goals. The study sample was 160 art teachers in Riyadh educational districts in the second school semester of the year 2008 — 2009. The study's results revealed that the participants general knowledge of behavioral objectives was weak , 50.5%, , since the study hypothesized that the acceptable level of knowledge was at 60% and above. For having a specific knowledge of the participants' knowledge level of the behavioral objectives, the study's questions were divided into sections in the study's survey, such as, the behavioral objectives' concept and importance, writing , domains, and the domains' levels, each section represented one of the study's sub — questions. The results of the study revealed that the participants knowledge level of the behavioral objectives' concept and importance and their knowledge level of the affective domain were acceptable , 66.5% and 84.4%, , while the participants' knowledge levels of the rest of the sections were weak , below 60%, . In addition, the study's results revealed significant differences in the participants' knowledge level of the behavioral objectives due to experience variable. The participants with teaching experience of 10 to 15 years had higher knowledge level mean that the participants whose experience was over 15 years. In addition the results indicated significant differences in the knowledge level due to the independent variable of having training workshops in behavioral objectives. The participants who had training showed a higher knowledge level of behavioral objectives than those who did not have training in behavioral objectives. The study recommended that teaching methods courses in colleges of education and colleges of teacher preparation emphasize on teaching behavioral objectives in terms of their concept, importance, writing , domains, and their domains' levels, as well as, their implementation in art education. Moreover, the study emphasized on the importance of providing training workshops in behavioral objectives for art teachers and encouraging them to participate in such training.
